UCL – HGP
Since 2009 Royal Wootton Bassett Academy has developed and embedded a whole school, cross curricular Holocaust, genocide and human rights programme (HGP) that has garnered national and international recognition for its approach, innovative T&L and impact on student outcomes.
To support that programme and to share best practice, we offer a range of research informed CPD to enable teachers from ITE trainee to senior leaders, governors and Teaching Assistants opportunities to build their knowledge and understanding, develop and refine their pedagogy and classroom practice and the time to reflect on the challenges and opportunities T&L about such complex, challenging, sensitive or difficult issues presents. Working in partnership with the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education and a range of expert organisations, we are able to offer twilights, full CPD days, conferencing and one-off events that serve to inform, engage, inspire and empower teachers, and ultimately our learners.
As one participant noted ‘I am a better teacher full stop now, not just better at teaching about the Holocaust’.
Empowering Young People to Change the World
Royal Wootton Bassett Academy (RWBA) and the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education are proud to announce this national teachers’ conference that seeks to address an important gap in educational provision; the empowerment of young people to safeguard the future by learning about the past.
This unique two day conference champions holistic education, including a range of international, national and regional experts who will share expertise, insight, materials and approaches. The programme will cover generic T&L, SMSC, assessment, PSHE, safeguarding, wellbeing, citizenship, SEND, leadership, curriculum, enterprise and internationalism, human rights, Holocaust and genocide education and so much more.
The programme offers keynotes, workshops and seminar discussions designed to inform, inspire, engage and empower teachers and is aimed at impacting both policy and practice in schools, to ultimately improve outcomes for students. The conference provides a wonderful CPD and networking opportunity for ITE, NQT, middle and senior leaders, governors and those working with young people at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. The conference includes a Gala Awards Dinner.
